Vanessa Astros is a vice president with FleishmanHillard’s Houston office. Since joining FleishmanHillard in 2007, Vanessa Astros has served a wide range of clients, supporting predominantly AT&T and Procter & Gamble accounts.

Ms. Astros’ body of work includes media relations, event management, community relations, social media and digital communications. During her tenure at FleishmanHillard, Vanessa has helped office supply giant Staples Inc. enter the Houston market, in addition to helping execute a nationwide reputation tour for ConocoPhillips and a Texas-wide community grassroots program for Chevrolet.

Ms. Astros currently supports a variety of AT&T’s multicultural communications programs. She oversees the company’s Spanish website, managing and developing culturally-relevant content in addition to managing the Spanish-language social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. She’s also responsible for working with AT&T Hispanic Marketing and other business units to develop comprehensive public relations plans around major sponsorships, C&S campaigns, and ad campaigns. Previously, Ms. Astros supported the AT&T Diversity and Inclusion communications team, where she managed diversity award submissions, executive support and the diversity section of att.com.

Before joining FleishmanHillard, Vanessa served as a public relations manager for the Houston Dynamo – a Major League Soccer franchise – where she supported crisis management, media and community relations, sports marketing and a bilingual website. Vanessa served as a Hispanic community liaison during the team’s transition from San Jose, Calif., to Houston. She managed several community relations programs, including player appearances, fundraisers, and school programs, and was the main point of contact for both general market and Spanish-language media.

Vanessa worked as a general assignment reporter and photographer at El Día Newspaper, Houston’s only daily Spanish-language newspaper.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications from Illinois State University, with a minor in Latin American Studies. A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Vanessa is fluent in both English and Spanish.
